"Dr. Nabakrushna Behera is an esteemed academician and researcher in the field of chemistry, currently serving as an Associate Professor and Director of the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) at Sambalpur University, Odisha. Born on April 7, 1977, he has significantly contributed to the field of Coordination Chemistry, Bioinorganic Chemistry, Nanoscience, and Organometallic Chemistry.

Dr. Behera completed his M.Sc. in Chemistry from Ravenshaw College (Autonomous) and pursued his Ph.D. from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. Furthering his research experience, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Pennsylvania State University, USA (2008-09). He began his academic career as an Assistant Professor at Lovely Professional University in 2010 before joining Sambalpur University on September 29, 2010.

At Sambalpur University, he has progressed through various academic ranks, from Assistant Professor (S-I) (2010-2014) to Associate Professor (2022-Present). His research spans various domains, including Main-Group and Organometallic Chemistry, Coordination Chemistry, Bioinorganic Chemistry, and Nanoscience. He has guided several Ph.D. and M.Phil. scholars, demonstrating his commitment to mentoring future scientists. Notable among his Ph.D. scholars is Dr. Sipun Sethi (awarded in 2022), while multiple candidates, including Tankadhar Behera and Jyotiprabha Rout, are currently pursuing their doctoral research under his guidance.

Dr. Behera has received numerous accolades for his contributions. He was awarded the Best Participant recognition in the UGC Sponsored Special Summer Course in Science at Sambalpur University in 2013 and won the Best Poster Award at the MTIC-IX symposium at IIT Delhi in 2005 for his research on "Tetrachlorodicarbaphosphazene mediated organic transformations." Additionally, he has been a recipient of the Research Fellowship from IIT Delhi during 2003-2008. He is a Life Member of the Orissa Chemical Society, reflecting his active engagement in the professional scientific community.

His academic contributions extend to authoring several research papers and book chapters. Notable publications include his work on Heterocyclic Schiff Bases and Their Metal Complexes in "Novelties in Schiff Bases" and contributions to "Green Chemistry and Catalysis: Current Challenges and Future Perspectives" in the Encyclopedia of Green Materials. His research also extends to the study of Metal-Organic Frameworks for Organic Dye Adsorption, published in CRC Press.

Apart from research and teaching, Dr. Behera has played a crucial role in academic administration and faculty development. He has organized multiple seminars and conferences, including the Nobel Prize Seminars (2012-2014) and the National Conference on Recent Trends in Chemical Sciences (RETICS-2014). He has also served as the coordinator for several Faculty Induction Programs at UGC-HRDC, Sambalpur University, from 2021 to 2023.

Dr. Behera's vast experience in teaching spans multiple postgraduate courses, including Inorganic Chemistry, Instrumental Methods of Analysis, Organometallic Chemistry, and Industrial Processes. He has also contributed to the development of MOOCs on Advanced Chemical Sciences. With an extensive academic background, numerous publications, and an unwavering dedication to research and teaching, Dr. Nabakrushna Behera continues to be a pivotal figure in the advancement of chemical sciences."
